The Royal Watercolour Society (as it later became) was founded in 1804 for similar reasons.〔Iain McCalman (ed), ''An Oxford Companion to the Romantic Age: British Culture, 1776-1832'', p.189, OUP, 1999, ISBN 0-19-924543-6. Though most other sources say 1803.〕 The society is described as "short-lived".
